A critical review of models for froth flotation control, classified as empirical, phenomenological and hybrid. Most control-oriented models focus on the pulp phase and neglect or oversimplify the froth, whose behaviour is dominated by coalescence and liquid and solids motion. The review discusses the challenges of developing froth and pulp models suitable for model predictive control.
